Prison Fellowship Uganda

Bringing Hope to Uganda's Prisons

Our NGO is dedicated to spreading hope and transforming lives in Uganda’s prisons through education, rehabilitation, and support.

About us

Welcome to Prison Fellowship Uganda

We are a corporate Christian Ministry. It is an association of prison ministries of different denominations across the Christian faith. Our priorities are to win prison inmates and their families to Christ and disciple them in God’s word. Hence we exhort, train and equip Christians to reach out and identify with prisoners, ex-prisoners and their families, and show them practically that the gospel of Jesus christ is able to make the difference in their lives.

Our Services

Our work involves organizing spiritual and educational programs, facilitating mentorship opportunities, and advocating for justice reform.

Charity events

Charity events in Prison Fellowship can have a profound impact on the lives of prisoners. They help to provide support, hope, and encouragement, creating a sense of community and belonging. Through these events, prisoners can gain access to vital resources and develop important life skills, helping them to rebuild their lives after release.

Family support

These programs help to strengthen family bonds, reduce recidivism rates, and provide support and guidance to families coping with the challenges of incarceration. Through family support programs, prisoners and their families can work together to rebuild their lives and create a brighter future.

Educate prisoners

Education programs in Prison Fellowship can help to transform the lives of prisoners, providing them with vital skills and knowledge to succeed both inside and outside of prison. These programs help to reduce recidivism rates, increase job opportunities, and provide a sense of hope and purpose to prisoners. Through education, prisoners can gain a second chance at life and build a brighter future.

We offer a gentle reentry program for those recently released from prison.

Mr. Dona Akonga was a security man who was wrongly accused and held for ten years while investigations took place. Although his maximum sentence would have been 7 years if found guilty, he spent ten years in jail. He was eventually released but it’s unclear what he was released into or what his current situation is.

Our Projects

Angel Tree Project

Angel Tree is a Prison Fellowship program that connects parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. In most cases, local church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the Gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent. Many churches make an annual commitment to this highly rewarding program and recognize it as a way to care for some of the most overlooked members of our communities.

Medical Services Project

Through Humedica, a German medical aid organization in partnership with different churches we have provided medical services to over 2,000 inmates annually.

Week of Prayer Project

The Annual Week of Prayer is observed at any time during the year. The week is designed as a special occasion for Prison Fellowship Uganda to communicate and connect with churches and the community in order to focus on ministry among prisoners, ex-prisoners, the families of prisoners, and victims of crime.
